Living Hope Partner Conference held at Brentwood
<<< Back to News
The Living Hope Partners Conference took place on March 1-2 at Brentwood Baptist Church. Attendees from a collection of churches and ministries participated in the annual gathering that serves as introduction, progress report, and planning session for this important organization.
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Living Hope Community Centre is a holistic ministry created to address the region’s AIDS pandemic.
When first opened in 1999, Living Hope dealt primarily with HIV/AIDS patients making ready for death. With today’s medication advancements, growing resources, and support from churches like ours, the “hope” of this ministry has truly become more about “living.”
“We had to change our ‘hospice’ to a ‘health centre’ because not enough people died there any more,” reports Avril Thomas, one of Living Hope’s founders.
Living Hope now offers expanded ministries and services to help people living with HIV/AIDS or facing abject poverty become productive and equipped for new opportunities. Additionally, the ministry has created programs to reach South Africa’s youth with messages of abstinence and education.
All these works are conducted on the foundation of the gospel, always sharing the truth that “Living Hope” comes directly from God’s grace.
Our support—financial, prayerful, physical—is more essential than ever, as Living Hope works to change hearts and redirect generations in a society still burdened by a pandemic and suffering from spiritual drought.
With bold faith, Living Hope’s leadership and ministry partners (including Brentwood Baptist) are ready for new challenges to reach the Cape’s population in 2010 and beyond.
