About:
Youth Encouragement Services (YES) operates three youth centers that offer educational and recreational programs as alternatives for kids ages 6-18 during after school hours, weekends and summer break. The programs offered by YES effectively keep children living in the inner city off the street, giving them a safe place to go where they can engage in social, educational and cultural activities.
• After-School and Summer Programs: spend time with the kids, help organize activities, prepare meals, volunteer at summer camps
• Chapel and Bible Classes: speak in chapel, teach a Bible class, lead singing
• Tutoring and Homework Assistance: tutor a child, read to a child
• Arts / Cultural Programs: organize plays, build props, teach music or art
• Back to School and Christmas Store: organize school supply or school clothing drives, sponsor an angel, volunteer at the store, collect canned food, organize toy and clothing drives
• Field Trips/Service Projects: chaperone field trips to sporting events, plays, and concerts
• Drug Prevention, Anger Management, Abstinence Classes: teach a class, mentor a child
• Office Assistance/Computer Training: data entry, event planning, teach basic computer skills, organize computer projects for the teens
• Maintenance: cleaning, yard work, minor repairs, replacing light bulbs, painting
